It has been far too long since I've logged into my DeviantArt account.  I apologize to anyone who actually missed me.  Wish I could claim that life got busy or some such, but the truth is that I was just distracted by other things.  Been playing in Photoshop a lot, though I haven't shared all my work here (sorry, but I've drawn people from work and such that I doubt anyone here would care to see).  Been also playing with Twitter and Facebook...two places that I recently began exploring.

I also found a new comic that I fell in love with and thought I'd share with everyone.  It's called "Least I Could Do" and is freaking hilarious.  Imagine Calvin from "Calvin and Hobbs" grown up and discovering the benefits of the opposite sex.  That will pretty much sum up Rayne Summers, the main character of "Least I Could Do."  Anyway, go read it!  [link] will not regret it.  ^.^

I'm seeing it everywhere....a little bluebird that is literally stalking me!  He's at my work, he's at my home, he's on all my favorite sites.  You can't blame me for succumbing to his desires.  I have joined the blue side.  I am now a Twitter user.  [link]

Not only did I join up with the little bluebird; but I'm even supporting his world domination by making my very own buttons!  [link]

....And, randomly, that just gave me ideas for more buttons.  The evil bird is controlling me now...must go make more!

Today, I feel completely justified in my complaint that COMPUTERS ARE STUPID!

Last Sunday, my computer randomly decided that it was not internet capable.  At first, we thought my network card had gone dead.  Later, the assumption was upgraded to "it has a virus."

After backing up all of my personal files, we've (my fiance mostly, but with occasional help from me) spent all of this weekend attempting to reinstall windows.  I say "attempting," because the computer is fighting us at every turn.  It doesn't want to work.  Says something about the C: drive and memory and a whole other mess of stuff that I know nothing about but that is frustrating us to no end.

Now, I am forced to use my fiance's computer while we fight with mine.  It's not too big a deal, as his computer is less than 3 feet away from mine, but it is the principle of the thing!  I want my computer!

Plus...I can't draw on his.  Yes, his computer has Photoshop installed (he even runs a newer version of Photoshop than I do)....but all my files are now on an external hard-drive and I would rather not move them over to his computer, just to back them up again and move them back to my computer if and when mine decides to function.

I hate computers....well...hate them when they decide not to work.

I can't even scan in new pictures because my computer was the one hooked up to our scanner.  :(

Wow, I've managed to add only 4 deviations to my account so far (and favorited a bunch of deviations by others) and I managed to come across a few clubs that I am now trying to join.  The clubs that I have found all feature around some of my more....obsessive interests: The Black Jewels Trilogy and The Labyrinth.

The Black Jewels Trilogy (which is quickly becoming much more than a trilogy) is a series of books that I would highly recommend.  Though they are classified as Fantasy, there is some semi-descriptive romance aspects to the books.  Still, these books have some of the most intriguing and well-developed characters that I have ever read.

The Labyrinth is a movie from the 1980's that I grew up watching and adoring. Even before I was old enough to lust after anyone, I was obsessed with the character Jereth.  He has that quality where you're not quite sure if he's a good guy or a bad guy, but you find yourself rooting for him to win anyway.  The character is played by David Bowie and (as I'm sure you'd expect) the movie is filled with amazing music.

Anyway, here are the three clubs I am working on joining.  You should check them out...and if anyone knows of anymore clubs on these topics or anything else I might be interested in, please let me know!

I found an awesome artist here today (I fav'd a ton of her stuff, if you are interested) and am suddenly reaffirming my belief that I have got to spend more time on backgrounds.

For me, the interesting part of a drawing is the person within it.  I love pictures that have beautiful and detailed backgrounds/scenery, but it's just not any fun to draw!  I need to work on it though.  My own work never seems complete due to the lack of background.

*Sigh*  Must. Try. Harder.

Day One...is not really day one.

I've been a member of Deviantart for years, but I am creating a second account that is more professional.  Basically, my other account was not work friendly, and I plan to keep this one so (search for my other account at your own risk).

Anyway, this is just an initial entry to begin filling up this account before I move on to finding and adding other's work to my favorites...not to mention adding my own work.  I'm keeping my old account with mostly cartoon fanart and fanfiction and will be using this account for more realistic drawings...including some fanart of actors and actresses (my studies as I better my own eye).

So, here is the first entry.  Let's see where life and art takes it from here.
